This is a photo of me and Brandon. Our first photo together, a Polaroid picture taken by my dear friend Sarah. A little over 7 years ago, Sarah and her husband Andy hosted a Christmas party where I introduced my new boyfriend Brandon to all my close friends. As the photo was being taken, I'm pretty sure I was thinking, "Yay! Our first picture together! We are so almost official now."

If I would have known that Brandon and I were going down in history as husband and wife (and that the Kodak company would one day retire Polaroid cameras), I certainly would have taken better care of this picture. The defining characteristic of a Polaroid is the white border around that photo. In a moment of genius, removed that border so I could fit the photo inside a tiny picture frame. I also let this photo get shuffled around in a box multiple times throughout my many moves with who knows what random books or art supplies or other mementos.

Here are some recent photos of us. I think Bran looks the same! My hair is no longer bleach blonde, and the newfangled digital cameras are apparently great for capturing the intricate details of almost 7 years worth of laugh lines.

STOP.THE.PRESSES. Did I just read that you and Brandon are engaged? DID I????!!!! Because that was oh so completely subtle. Not that I would expect anything less than subtle from the Nickster, but still. Please confirm: has the question been popped? Officially? I await with baited breath.

Oh, and the photo? I love it and remember taking it. You two are the cutest, most adorable couple ever.

We *are* engaged! [suddenly I feel like I'm shouting it from the rooftops]

I think must be the most subtle engagee ever to exist. What is my deal? It's not like I'm trying to keep things a secret and don't try to be so private- I guess, "Oh, BTW- a huge life event just happened" is how I apparently roll.

We've slowly ben rolling out the news, and I've been so crazy busy as of late that I realized I hadn't written about it here at all.

So happy you took that photo of us, Sarah! It's one of the few we have from that era.

p.s. When I first saw the polaroid of you and Brandon I had to do a double take because I thought you looked so much like Tracie in that picture!
