Love
I love you
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find
I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple.
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.
I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good.
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.

I'm on an organizing kick. With all my books and art supplies, it's about time I figure out a nicer way of maintaining my collection of must-keep vintage papers, worn dominoes, and Scrabble tiles just waiting to be made into something.
Tonight, I purchased this shelf. It's wider than a traditional bookshelf, so baskets and other containers will fit on it very nicely.

I also purchased 4 zig zag pots in white. They're a little over 4 inches tall, and look like empty cupcake baking cups- dreamy, gigantic cupcakes, that is. I like how they add whimsy in contrast to the square plastic boxes sitting next to them. I placed two each on the ends of two different shelves. They'll be perfect for miscellaneous junk that doesn't fit in any other category.

I love cupcakes.

Here are some pictures of our new apartment. Most of our wall decor is just hanging out in our spare room, since we're still in the process of figuring out what we want to put on the wall behind our couch.

We need more wine! Walking by one of our neighbors apartments, I noticed that they had put the built-in wine rack to good use by using it as a chip holder. Wonder how long it will take us to go that route?

I'm back! We've been immersed with moving fun these past few weeks. It's crazy how much longer moving takes when there are just two of you lugging boxes out of the old place and into the new place. There was certainly a moment or two when attempting to move things like the king-sized bed mattress with no handles where that "crazy" felt downright nutty and almost impossible, and maybe even a bit lonely. I like the city, but I haven't really made any friends here. Luckily I've got a really sweet fiance and dog- but my dog, unfortunately, has no opposable thumbs.
Took a walk this morning on the trail next to the river in our new neighborhood. It's kind of exciting that we have this new place to explore. Next on our long list of things to do: buy groceries, figure out why our cell phones won't get reception in our apartment, figure out a storage solution for 12 cardboard boxes full of art books and supplies, and get some friends with opposable thumbs.

It's going to be 41 degrees and sunny tomorrow morning when Koda and I run the Furry Scurry. This is actually great news, considering that that me and Becki ran the half-marathon in 35-degree weather. In the pouring rain. Uphill (well, as we ran by the mother of all hills next to the Wells Fargo building downtown, anyway).
Even by some chance it snows tomorrow morning, I'll still be rejoicing at the 41-degree temperature. Hope you all have a happy Saturday!

I'm excited to announce that Koda and I will be taking in the Furry Scurry this Saturday. The Furry Scurry is a two-mile walk and fun run that supports the Dumb Friends League. As you know, there are many wonderful organizations out there, and asking for money is difficult, but I passionately believe in the League. This place doesn't just say they make a difference- they really do make a difference! Last year, the League adopted 15,181 animals into safe and loving homes.
Often, people feel like they have to donate a lot of money to make a difference. Please know that each cent adds up, and any amount you donate is welcome and appreciated. Each cent will make a difference in the lives of our four-footed friends! As little as $30 will help nurture a kitten or puppy that needs foster care, and $85 will help spay a cat or dog. Because I wholeheartedly believe that the Dumb Friends League makes a difference in the world, I want to ask for your support for the Furry Scurry. It would mean a great deal to me, and you would know that your money would be well spent making the world a better place for many animals that deserve a better life and another chance they might not otherwise be given. Thank you so much!
