And now is the part of my night when I make a pot of coffee and try to pretend like I still care about writing about Michael Dell and his Dell computer empire.

Michael Dell, you dropped out of college and your breath stinks. Boom- roasted.

I'm writing a 5-page paper tonight on Dell computers. I hate that I have this due by midnight on a Friday night, and at the same time secretly enjoy that I'm learning something new.

I can feel my perspective on business and technology growing by the minute. And by perspective, I mean
my brain. I'm thinking about work in a whole new light these days, which is great.

♥ our wedding cake toppers
(Vincent van Gogh and Frida Kahlo)

What a wonderful weekend! On Friday night, Brandon and I went down to the Santa Fe Arts District for the first Friday arts walk. Basically, all the art galleries have show openings the first Friday of each month. As much as I love art, we'd never taken the opportunity to attend. We saw a wonderful range of artwork. There were two pieces in particular that I loved- both in the $1300 range. If I won the lottery, I'd definitely spend a hearty share of my winnings on original artwork. Love, love, love it.

After art walk, we went out for sushi. The following day, me and my sister Becki had another art date- this time, at the Denver Art Museum. It's free the first Saturday of every month, and sadly, I've been in Denver almost 3 years and never taken advantage of this! We saw a wide range of art, and almost had as much fun people watching. We saw a grandfather pushing his grandson in a stroller. They walked by a piece of art, and he asked his grandson what time of day he thought a painting represented- morning, noon, or night? So sweet seeing the gallery as a learning experience. It was wonderful catching up with Becki while surrounded by art! We ended up finding some wonderful finds in the art gallery gift shop- some art trivia cards and some mini art figurines, which will be cake toppers for me and Brandon's wedding cake or cupcake. The best part is that they were on sale as part of a set of 5, so instead of spending $60 on a glass dove figurine, we spent $12.50 on our cake topper. Amazing how tying the word "wedding" to anything instantly makes the price multiply by 5!

Finally, we topped off a great 48 hours by going to the musical Chicago at the theater in downtown Denver. I think I had a smile on my face the whole time we were watching the play.

I realized this weekend that it had been far too long since I'd done anything like this! I definitely need to have weekends spent doing things I really love more often.

Brandon and I went to First Friday in the Santa Fe Arts District, and while we were there decided to visit our wedding venue. Here's Brandon peeking at the wall on room #1 where our food and liquor will be located.

Here's a picture taken from the upstairs loft-type area. The area below, which we'll call room #2, is where we'll be married. I love the cement floor, exposed duct work, and black rafters. You can't tell, but the ceiling is shiny silver.

Here's the same room, but this photo is taken from below so you get a good shot of the upstairs area. We'll probably have this be a sort of lounge area with drinks... maybe Jell-O shots. After the ceremony, we'll go into room #1 and eat, then we'll return to this room for dancing.

So exciting! And stressful. Talking about the best place to put the food table made me suddenly start to feel a bit claustrophobic! We're not experts, so don't know like a caterer would know where you put the food so the traffic flows well.

♥ the city

We're talking about buying a home in spring 2010, but I am already getting sad about moving away from downtown Denver.
